Ohio taxpayers have paid more than $14,000 to fuel, clean and maintain the sport-utility vehicle that takes Attorney General Marc Dann from his Youngstown-area home to his office in Columbus and on trips around the state.  Since Dann's office bought the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban a year ago for more than $40,000, it has spent $14,214.77 on fuel and maintenance, according to records provided by Dann's office this week.  (The Columbus Dispatch, 1/18/08)

Beginning last June and continuing for months, Attorney General Marc Dann had an extensive security detail that included security alarms, cameras and state law enforcement agents to protect him and his family at their home near Youngstown.  It is unclear what threat or threats triggered the unprecedented security, which cost more than $145,000. But it appears to go well beyond what previous attorneys general have had, and exceeds what is provided for any other state officeholder other than the governor.  (Dayton Daily News, 2/11/08)
