Committee members are elected for two-year terms and must be legally affiliated with the Republican Party.  To become a member of the committee, a qualified Republican must file candidate petitions with his or her county board of elections and appear on the ballot during an even-numbered year primary election.  Elected public officials may not serve as members of the committee.
