Betty Sutton’s Big Government Bill of Goods

Posted by Ohio Republican Party on February 08, 2012

After forcing ObamaCare’s costly big- government mandates onto Ohio taxpayers and small businesses, Betty Sutton and her Democrat leaders promised that if you liked your health coverage you could keep it. Well, as the Columbus Dispatch put it, “The one sure thing to expect is more unpleasant surprises. This unpopular health-care bill was drafted in back rooms in Washington and passed with parliamentary tricks and political bribery by an administration that once promised that health-care reform would televised on C-SPAN.”

Sounds, in fact, like Nancy Pelosi had it more to the point – “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”

Under a new ruling by the Obama administration, the Catholic Church is required to pay for contraceptives and other coverage, such as a morning-after pill, for their employees even if that coverage interferes with their religious teachings.  By choosing not to comply with this decision that violates their beliefs, the move would shut off millions of dollars in funding for Catholic charitable organizations that provide help to struggling families, the sick and elderly and other needy Americans who benefit from their good works. We have already seen Democrats who were defeated because of their ObamaCare vote come out and say that they “Wouldn’t have voted for ObamaCare had I expected the Obama Administration to force Catholic hospitals and Catholic Colleges and Universities to pay for contraception…”

Will Betty Sutton admit she deceived her constituents? Did she read the bill and know this provision was included?

Will she finally supporting repealing this government takeover of healthcare?

Two-and-a-half years later and Obamacare continues to create more questions than answers.
