More than 200 candidates, party operatives and campaign staff attended the Ohio Republican Party's 2008 Candidate Training Seminar on Saturday, April 19, at The Conference Center at NorthPointe in Lewis Center, Ohio. Participants learned everything from campaign strategy and fundraising to media relations and voter turnout tactics. "Our success as a party depends on the strength of our candidates," said Ohio Republican Party Deputy Chairman Kevin DeWine. "We believe in the importance of investing in political education and training to ensure that our campaigns are focused on the right priorities. Every year this seminar gets better, and we have successful candidates who tell us it's the most important campaign decision they made before Election Day." In addition to the traditional sessions on The Campaign Plan, Fundraising, Media Tactics, Direct Mail and Voter Targeting & Turnout, the 2008 seminar offered new breakout sessions on Judicial Campaign Strategies and New Media Engagement.
