ICYMI: State Rep. Josh Mandel and ORP Chair Bob Bennett on the "New Politics" Obama Claims to Represent

Tuesday, July 1, 2008

Mandel: "As an Iraq war vet, and as a young person who wants to see politics in this country change, I'm disappointed by this pattern of attacking one's military service for political gain. Clearly, whatever script General Clark followed yesterday has backfired, and I hope that Senator Obama will one day understand why these remarks are wrong."  (Conference Call, 6/30/08)

Mandel: "I think there's been a pattern, it's a troublesome pattern, coming from surrogates of the Obama campaign denigrating the service of Senator McCain. We saw that a while ago with Senator Rockefeller, comments he made, and other surrogates as well, and just saw yesterday with General Clark. It surprises me and really saddens me that Senator Obama could not stand up stronger against comments which I think are just shameful."  (Conference Call, 6/30/08)

Bennett: "Barack Obama is just proven to be nothing more than a typical politician who will say anything to get elected including allowing his surrogates to attack John McCain's military record, this has to be one of the first in the nation, it's just unheard of."  (Conference Call, 6/30/08)
