Fisher and Brunner Pick Washington Democrats over Ohio Families in Debate on Health Care

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

(Columbus) - Lt. Governor Lee Fisher and Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner have chosen the will of liberal Washington politicians over the will of the vast majority of Ohio voters who oppose President Obama's health care plan.

Both candidates vying for the Democrat nomination for the U.S. Senate seat have publicly stated their support for the health care legislation that liberals in Congress are desperately trying to pass using a seldom-used procedure called "Reconciliation" that is so controversial it is called the "nuclear option."

A Quinnipiac University survey released last week shows that only 34% of Ohioans approve the way President Obama is handling health care.  The vast majority of Ohioans clearly do not want Washington Democrats to succeed in their efforts to use arcane legislative procedures to pass a bad health care bill.

"While the Washington status quo is plotting the next back room deal to try and buy the votes to pass President Obama's risky health care experiment, Lee Fisher and Jennifer Brunner once again demonstrate they will take the side of liberals in Congress instead of Ohio working families," said Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine.  "It makes no difference who the Democrats nominate for the U.S. Senate. Brunner and Fisher are the 'Rubber Stamp Twins' for the Obama-Pelosi-Reid agenda."
