(Columbus) - Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine questioned today whether Democratic U.S. Senate candidates Jennifer Brunner and "Job Czar" Lee Fisher will publicly run from or stand with President Obama when he comes to Ohio next week to promote his unpopular health care plan.
"Voters deserve to know whether these candidates will stand with the president or stand up for working families who oppose his risky health care experiment," said DeWine. "Thousands of Ohioans voiced their opposition to these policies at town hall meetings and tea party rallies last year. They'll be watching closely next week to see if Lee Fisher and Jennifer Brunner got the message."
Fisher and Brunner have publicly supported* the president's controversial and unpopular health care policies, but The Washington Times reported Thursday that a Democratic U.S. Senate candidate in Missouri was a no-show when the President visited that state to push his health care plan. In addition, The Hill reports today:
"Of the 26 leading Democratic House candidates contacted by The Hill, only one would commit to voting for the Senate healthcare bill if and when it comes to the House floor.
Out of the more than two dozen Democratic challengers and open-seat House candidates, only 10 commented for this story. Eight outright declined to comment. Eight more didn't respond to several days' worth of requests via phone and e-mail."
Where do "Job Czar" Lee Fisher and Jennifer Brunner stand?
According to a recent Rasmussen Reports survey, 54 percent of Ohioans oppose the president's health care policies, with nearly half of Ohioans (47%) saying they are "strongly opposed." Fourty-eight percent say the president has "done a poor job" on the health care issue.
