(Columbus) - Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine issued the following statement today regarding Scott Brown's victory in the Massachusetts U.S. Senate special election and what it means for Republicans in 2010:
"This is another shot heard round the world from Massachusetts. If I was an Ohio Democrat, I'd be very worried right now. The people have spoken, and the bluest of blue states has elected a Republican to this Democratic seat for the first time in nearly 60 years. It's a stunning upset and a colossal defeat for President Obama and the Democratic Congress, and the shock waves will be felt across the nation.
What happened in Massachusetts should serve as a sobering warning to every Ohio Democrat on the ballot this year. Voters are angry and fed up with the arrogance of one-party rule in Washington, and they're embracing a return to a platform of lower taxes, smaller government and fiscal responsibility. If Democrats fail to get that message, they'll see a revolution nationwide in November."
