John Kasich Primary Night Statement

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Columbus -- Tonight, John Kasich released the following statement after officially securing the Republican nomination for governor of Ohio:

"Nothing is more important than getting Ohio back on its feet by reviving our economy and creating jobs.  We're going to do that and we're going to do it not by erecting barriers between us but by coming together as a state and drawing upon the energy, creativity and commitment of every Ohioan.  Together we will find the way out of the mess Ohio is in.

"The current Administration had its chance but wasn't up to the task, and because of their policies the recession is hurting Ohioans more than it should and more than people in neighboring states.  More than 427,000 Ohioans have lost their jobs on this Administration's watch and they're powerless to even try to stop it.  With the TV ads that Ted Strickland has already started running we know his response to his hurtful record-distract attention from his failures, dodge responsibility, fling mud.

"In November a new day starts in Ohio and we start moving forward in a new way.  Together as a state, and with the combined resources of the great ticket that is solidifying tonight, we will tear down the barriers that keep businesses from creating jobs for Ohioans.  We can and will get Ohio back on track and restore our state's prosperity."
