(Columbus) - Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine issued the following statement today regarding President Obama's visit to Youngstown:
"The economic recovery we were promised hasn't happened, and the president's policies clearly aren't working. Unfortunately, neither are thousands of Ohioans.
President Obama estimated last February that his stimulus plan would create 133,000 jobs in Ohio. Fifteen months after the stimulus bill took effect, Ohio has lost 200,000 jobs, more than double the population of Youngstown. The only thing the president has managed to stimulate is a rising tide of voter outrage that will cost his party deeply in November.
Unfortunately, the president's failed policies are only made worse by the absolute ineptitude of Gov. Strickland and Job Czar Lee Fisher. Four years ago, they promised to turn around Ohio's economy and, since then, managed to lose more than 430,000 jobs and reach unemployment rates not seen in a quarter century. Ohioans have had enough.
There's an old saying: Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Ohioans won't be fooled again this November."
