The Ohio Republican Party's endorsed candidates for statewide office have all filed their nominating petitions for candidacy, officially entering the race for the 2010 elections.
The top of our ticket, John Kasich for Governor and Rob Portman for U.S. Senate, each filed their petitions with signatures from every one of Ohio's 88 counties.
State Senator Jon Husted (shown right) filed with nearly 3,000 signatures from voters all across Ohio.
Dave Yost, candidate for Auditor of State and the only candidate in that race who has actually been an auditor, submitted nearly double the required number of signatures for his candidacy.
Marine Veteran and State Representative Josh Mandel filed petitions containing nearly 3,000 signatures to secure his place on the ballot as the Republican candidate for Ohio Treasurer of State.
Watch John Kasich's video:
Rob Portman: "I'm honored to have the support of so many Ohioans who share my concern about the direction of our state and country and who are looking for common-sense solutions to our economic problems. This campaign is going to be about how working together, we can turn things around and put people back to work in Ohio where we have lost more than 300,000 jobs since the Strickland-Fisher administration took office. While my opponents support the same, tired proposals that have resulted in continued job losses and record deficits, we will be focused on new ideas to move us forward.
Jon Husted: "The support we generated from across the state marks another important step in our campaign's success. The broad-based support shows we are ready to compete throughout the state, and serves as a strong statement of faith from Ohioans that I will serve as a leader who will ensure our elections are conducted with honor and integrity. I look forward to the days ahead and building on our already strong network."
Josh Mandel: "I have driven 69,825 miles across this state over the past year to listen to voters' concerns in every part of Ohio, and I am proud to say that the grassroots network of volunteers we built went out and collected signatures in 70 of Ohio's counties. We are continuing to build momentum, and we will keep running the disciplined, tech-savvy campaign that people have come to expect from us."
