Speaking to the Youngstown Vindicator yesterday, Democrat gubernatorial candidate Ed FitzGerald continued to demonstrate how out of touch he is with Ohioans.
According to the Vindicator when speaking about driving without a license for years, FitzGerald said, “I didn’t pay attention to it. I didn’t get pulled over. I didn’t have a situation where I was getting away with something other people weren’t.“
In response Ohio Republican Party spokesman Chris Schrimpf said, “Arrogant Ed has been telling so many different stories, even he can’t keep them all straight. For nearly ten years Ed FitzGerald got away with driving illegally while others were driving legally. And as County Executive Ed FitzGerald punished other employees who did exactly what he did, drive without a license. FitzGerald’s audacity is as limitless as his ambition.”
According to the Northeast Ohio Media Group, “As Cuyahoga County executive, Ed FitzGerald has disciplined employees for not holding a valid driver’s license – something the former FBI agent and Democratic candidate for governor himself lacked for years.
In 2013 his administration punished at least eight employees, with penalties ranging from a written reprimand to a five-day suspension without pay, according to documents the Northeast Ohio Media Group obtained through a public-records request.”
