Mike DeWine’s Actions Deliver Justice for Rape Victims

Mike DeWine just announced that his office has completed the testing of nearly 14,000 formerly shelved rape kits. As a result, justice has been delivered to victims and rapists have been put behind bars.

This is yet another example why we need to elect Mike DeWine as our next Governor. One of DeWine’s potential Democrat opponents, Richard Cordray, was Ohio’s Attorney General when these kits were piling up and rapists were running free.

“Ohioans deserve a Governor who takes action and delivers results,” Ohio Republican Party Chairman Jane Timken said. “Thanks to Mike DeWine and our great law enforcement agencies across the state, hundreds of rapists are answering for their crimes instead of stalking new victims. This is a significant difference between Mike DeWine and his potential Democrat opponent, Richard Cordray. As rape kits piled up on Cordray’s watch, he called for ‘conversations.’ When Mike DeWine took over, he demanded action and delivered justice.”

As reported by Cleveland.com – nearly 300 law enforcement agencies sent a total of 13,931 kits. The results, DeWine said, have shut down any argument as to the value of the undertaking:

  • About 65 percent of the time, a DNA profile was identified and entered into state and national crime databases.
  • 36 percent of the time, those profiles resulted in a hit to a criminal profile or a match to another case.
  • Testing helped link 300 suspected serial offenders to 1,127 crimes, mostly rapes.

DeWine’s unprecedented undertaking already has changed the culture and will have a lasting impact on how police understand and investigate rape.

The choice is clear, Mike DeWine is the right person to lead Ohio boldy into the future. Sign up here to help us elect Mike DeWine as Ohio’s next Governor.

Ohio Republican Party Chair Campaigns for Trumbull County Candidates

HOWLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – It was just over a year ago that Jane Timken became chair of the Ohio Republican Party — the first woman to hold the position. On Thursday night, she was in Howland, speaking in a predominantly Democratic county that voted for President Donald Trump.

Timken wants Trumbull County to have more Republicans in elected positions.

“We’re going to be active in helping Trumbull County this year and beyond. That’s why I’m here to help their candidates,” she said.

The Cincinnati native went to Harvard and is married to Tim Timken, who runs TimkenSteel in Canton.

“I put 40,000 miles on the car last year,” she said.

Now Timken is traveling Ohio, campaigning for Republicans. She has her eye on one of the Youngstown area’s congressional seats.

“I’d love to have Tim Ryan find some other line of work. We’ll see.”

She also thinks incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown is vulnerable.

“Seventeen of the 24 counties that voted for Sherrod Brown in 2012 went for Trump.”

She called Donald Trump an unconventional president who’s getting the job done. However, Timken gave no indication she would support Ohio’s top Republican — Governor John Kasich — who appears to already be campaigning for the 2020 presidential election.

“As it stands now, I’m a strong supporter of the president,” she said.

Timken said there needs to be more women in politics.

“I’m a woman, I’m the head of the Republican Party.”

In the Ohio House of Representatives, only 23 percent are women and in the Ohio Senate, it’s only 18 percent.

“I look at it as my job to try and be a role model. I always say you can’t be it if you don’t see it and women need to see more women in leadership roles,” Timken said.

Between Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, there is only one Republican in either the Ohio House or Senate — Tim Ginter, of Salem. Both bodies are dominated by Republicans. Timken said that doesn’t help this area when decisions are made in Columbus.

Tax Reform Gains Popularity, Ohioans Get more Bonuses

A new poll conducted by the New York Times and SurveyMonkey shows that tax reform now has more supporters than opponents, buoying Republican hopes for this year’s congressional elections. We also learned today that small-business confidence has hit a record high in 2018 after the tax-reform win.

In Ohio, workers are seeing more money in their paychecks and just last week, four more Ohio companies announced tax reform wins:

As Ohioans benefit from tax reform, Sherrod Brown and Ohio Democrats continue to oppose it. Instead of celebrating this news, they stand with Nancy Pelosi and nod in agreement when she calls $1,000 bonuses “crumbs.”

Sherrod Brown and the Democrats will regret their opposition to tax reform when Ohio voters go to the polls in November.

Here is a list of major Ohio employers and Ohio companies that are investing in their employees as a result of tax reform:

Will Richard Cordray Continue to Embrace Radical Leftist Keith Ellison?

Richard Cordray’s ties to DNC Deputy Chair Keith Ellison has raised new questions surrounding his gubernatorial campaign in Ohio. A new report shows that Ellison recently attended a private dinner with radical Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and Iranian dictator Hassan Rouhani in 2013.

For years, anti-bigotry organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center have called out Farrakhan for being racist and anti-Semitic, specifically citing his praise of Adolf Hitler, his obsession with Jews, and his belief that white people are subhumans created by an ancient African scientist.

Rouhani has served as president of a hostile anti-American regime in Iran since 2013 that has pursued a nuclear weapons program while threatening to wipe Israel “off the map.”

In spite of this, Ellison eagerly decided to meet with both men. This raises an important question for Cordray: In light of his alarming reported ties to a known anti-Semite, as well as an Iranian dictator, will Cordray accept Ellison’s support on the campaign trail?

While at the CFPB, Cordray met with Ellison on multiple occasions. Then, when Cordray resigned from his position in November, Ellison was one of the first to laud his candidacy.

With Ellison’s role as second-in-command of the DNC for the 2018 election cycle, he is poised to take a prominent role in the party’s efforts to support candidates like Cordray.

Ohio voters deserve to know if Cordray supports Ellison’s radical views.
